I think my cats would love this, like the cat chalets but looking big enough for chubbier adult cats .  I seen this on an as seen on TV online store, shopcc.ca but a quick search shows it available through many stores.

If you have ever seen the Peek-a-Prize toy, it is made by the same manufacturer, SmartCat and if made of the same type of wood, much longer lasting than many cat toys made of cardboard.

If you are like me, you have several well usedand ugly cardboard boxes with doors and windows cut out of them that have become your cat’s favourite hiding place and toys.

So, introducing the Cardboard Cat Chalet, the cardboard box with style, made in Quebec.

Most cardboard boxes come free, but at $24 CDN its a reasonable price for cat furniture and includes Canadian features like antlers over the front door.  I also love that they made it fat-cat proof with a nice wide door.

The bottom is also a carpeted surface that they can use to scratch their claws on and rubber strips to ensure it doesnt go flying when they bounce in or out of it.

moderncatSo its not Canadian but I can’t stop reading and dreaming about buying everything on the site

ModernCat is a website / blog dedicated to stylish cat products, they link to the individual sites so not everything can be shipped up here but they do a monthly giveaway of amazing products for anyone who signs up for their e-news and random giveaways for replies on certain posts.

December’s giveaway is a stylish corner cat tower with matching shelf for the space impaired cat owner (those cat trees can be huge).  Its beautiful and is a shelf type unit so no worries that it will ever topple with the cats on it.

They also feature a section of coupons and discount links for many of the products they have featured and DUY projects for those who love the look but don’t love the prices of some of the products.

Moderncat also has products for you, including tees, books, ornaments and watches.

Cat Trees

Since 8lbs is no longer the average weight of cats, and certainly not my cats, buying cat furniture that actually holds real cats and doesnt fall apart after very little use is near impossible.

Some time ago, I came across Cloud Nine Cat Trees at a cat show and was really impressed, they have huge (20 inch diameter) moulded disc shaped platforms for the cats that are actually as big as they show on their website.

They are made with wood rather than the carbboard or chipboard many cat trees are made from and so are heavier and more stable, and less likely to break with the weight of several cats on them.

The clamshell model leaves exposed wood for those that prefer wooden areas to scratch and play on and the corkscrew model makes it easier for older cats to climb to the top of the cat tree.

They also do custom work if you have that perfect cat tree that has been wrecked by lots of use and have scratching posts available too.  They are made in and ship from Richmond Hill, Ontario.
