Pheromonatherapy is a new way to manage behavior problems in animals. It is an innovative and natural solution to stress related problems in cats and dogs. Feliway is designed to mimic the pheromones that cats produce when happy or relaxed in order to limit the stress they feel.
It can be used for introducing new pets into the home, litterbox aversion, scratching and general stress. It is available as a spray for occasional use and a diffuser for long term use and available at all major pet stores.
Feliway really helped me when I brought home a scared cat from the shelter I volunteer at and we are successfully using Feliway in the shelter on an ongoing basis. The shelter is such a stressful environment for new cats coming in and we have seen great results using Feliway, the cats are much calmer and no longer hiding in their cages past the first day or so. Studies have shown an 86% success rate using Feliway to combat several behavioural issues.
A warning however, as much as I love Feliway, the spray version can stain some fabrics
